Dealing with change

As a creature of habit, I find it hard to adjust to changes in my life. However, after the major change of moving countries this year. I have decided to see the change as an opportunity more than something that is negative. Which is why I thought I’d share some tips and advice that I got from friends and loved ones on change which I think can be applied to pretty much anything. Whether you are changing jobs, schools, there are changes in your home or anything else that makes you a bit uneasy and takes you away from your daily routine.

  1. Start with an open mind: This sounds easier said than done, but keeping an open (and positive) mind no matter how difficult the situation is can help even a little bit.
  2. Create new habits: I don’t think I have ever met a person who doesn’t like some sort of habit. So whether its something small or big challenge yourself to your life change by doing something you have never done before. This can be cooking every day. Or in my case, going to the market in our are 3 times a week which has forced me to get outside the house.
  3. Remember that change means growth: Whilst it may be unpleasant, most change means growth. Which is something to keep reminding yourself whenever it gets hard. After all, nothing worthwhile comes easy.
