A couple of months ago all of South Africa had their eyes on our president once again. Yep you guessed it, I’m talking about the vote of no confidence that took place in parliament a few months back. With about 193 votes for the president, 122 against him and 7 members of parliament that chose not to vote, it was a very close call. One that everyone from Cape Town to Johannesburg, glued to their seats.
Now what I have noticed that after this whole saga no one is saying anything from any political party whether it be DA or EFF about Jacob Zuma stepping down. With the attention being moved to Manana for beating up a woman, but that’s an article for another day.
However the way I see it there is more going on in politics then what meets the eye. People were going on and one on how bad Zuma is for our country and yet a lot of the votes were for him. And even outside the party itself none of the opposition parties are saying much about Jacob Zuma and his leadership skills. Which is both disheartening for me as a young South African woman and also makes me question all the political parties we currently have in South Africa. After all, is one loss enough to stop an entire campaign to get rid of a president that many young people do not support? I don’t know, but I do wish someone would speak up.
